In India, 62 million tonnes of municipal solid waste are generated annually in urban areas and this number is forecasted to attain 165 million tonnes by 2030.
Today, due to mismanagement along the whole process (collection, segregation, transportation, processing and disposal) only 20% of the waste is treated.
